Maxwell Davenport Taylor (August 26, 1901 – April 19, 1987) was a senior United States Army officer and diplomat of the mid-20th century.[1] He served with distinction in World War II, most notably as commander of the 101st Airborne Division, nicknamed "The Screaming Eagles." William Kelly Harrison (1895-1987) was born in Washington, D.C. He received his commission in the cavalry from West Point in 1917. He advanced to the rank of brigadier general in June 1942 and served as Assistant Division Commander of the 78th Infantry Division, then 30th Division from 1942 to 1945.
